PESHAWAR: A fist-fight followed when an incident of road-rage went haywire in cantonment area of Peshawar on Friday afternoon, according to a private TV channel.
Another channel reported that a brazen display of arms was witnessed when a young underage man brandished an assault rifle and resorted to aerial firing. In what appears to be, a motorcyclist passed a government vehicle in a bid to overtake it. However, the passengers in the car followed him and obstructed him.
The parties then engaged in an argument, which escalated quickly. Shots were also fired at the motorcyclist. The young man brandished the gun at his rival, while another person on a motorcycle attempted to control him from firing at him. However, no one was injured in the incident.
Things worsened when a young man took an automatic assault rifle amid the overtaking row and resorted to aerial firing. The car B-5258 belongs to an unidentified government officer. The young motorcyclist has filed an FIR with the police. Cantt SP Kashif Zulfiqar said that the police have attained details of the vehicle. “We will catch the culprits as soon as possible,” he said.
The locals in the area interfered and helped cool down the atmosphere. However, the police are still trying to determine whether the vehicle was indeed state-owned or was it only carrying the number plate signaling it belonged to a government official.
The channel reported that several cars were registered under the same number plates in Pakhtunkhwa. The investigations with regard to the number plate unveiled another fact that a number of vehicles have same number plate. In Abbottabad, Sadiq Abbas owns a Mehran car with B-5258.
In Kohat, Zarsaf Khan is running his hi-lux with same number B-5258. In Mardan, Safeer Khan also owns a Toyota Pickup with the same number. The unidentified young man who was brandishing assault rifle was also travelling in the vehicle with same number plate.
