ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah has said that the ‘solo flight’ of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its chairman Imran Khan against the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif could damage the joint opposition.
He said that the reason behind failure of Imran Khan’s sit-in protest in 2014 was ‘solo flight’ and he was doing the same now. Talking about Sindh and its government affairs, he said that credit for peace in Karachi goes to the police force. He said that Pakistan People’s Party does not object to special powers to the paramilitary rangers but it should not give a perception of a state within a state.
He further said that to abide by the law was mandatory for every institution. His statement has come in as reaction to Imran Khan’s call for protest against the government starting from August 7 for alleged corruption and ‘ill’ state of affairs. Addressing the media outside the National Assembly, he said that technocrats and bureaucrats can now be a part of the Election Commission.
