COLOMBO – Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Syed Shakeel Hussain has said that Pakistan has always been extending all out support to Sri Lanka including cooperation at multiple multilateral forums which the Sri Lankan government has deeply appreciated at all levels.
He was talking to the 11-member delegation of Pakistan’s National School of Public Policy (NSPP) delegation, which is currently visiting Sri Lanka on five-day tour. The delegation comprising senior officers of civil services is being led by Naeem Aslam, dean of the institution.
The high commissioner said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka have maintained close, cordial and mutually supportive relations since 1948. The relationship is broad-based and multifaceted covering diverse fields like diplomatic, political, commercial, defense, people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges, he added.
The visit which started on 9th Mayintents to gain overview of the economic, domestic and foreign policies of Sri Lanka and to explore new spheres of mutual interest for enhancing joint cooperation in diverse fields. The NSPP is a premier institution for the study of public policy, management and related research and analysis in Pakistan with agoal to improve the quality of pre and in- service training and education of all those engaged in public service.
The institute, headed by President Mamnoon Hussain, guided by the Board of Governors, is providing four-tier training and education to the public servants as well as building their capacity for undertaking the tasks of policy formulation and implementation at tactical, operational and strategic levels.The NSPP is also vigorously involved with the establishment of institutional linkages with reputed counterpart public policy institutions abroad.
So far, the NSPP has singed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with China National School of Administration, and Public Administration Institute for Turkey and Middle East (TODAIE), and RussianAcademy of Public Administration, (RAPA).
During the visit, the delegation members will also call on Minister for Public Administration and Management Ranjith Manduma Bandara, besides visiting board of investment, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Colombo Port, Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of Tooth), and Jinnah Hall Kandy.
