KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh on Tuesday directed Hyderabad DIG and Jamshoro SP to provide security to the family of Tania Khaskehli, a 19-year-old girl killed in her home in Jhangara Town near Sehwan.
The chief justice was hearing a suo motu case regarding the brutal murder of Tania who was allegedly gunned down by Jhangara Town’s Wadera (feudal lord) Khan Noohani as she and her family turned down his marriage proposal.
Earlier on Saturday, the SHC CJ took notice, summoning DIG Hyderabad, SP Jamshoro and Investigating Officer (IO) of the case along with progress report.
Complying with the court’s directives, the police officers appeared and informed that the two accused, including the prime suspect Khan Noohani have been nabbed whereas the third one is still at large.
The DIG assured the court that the third accused will be arrested within shortest possible time. The court was also informed that the pistol used in the incident has also been recovered from the suspects’ possession.
Ghulam Qadir Khaskheli, the father of Tania and complainant in the case, was also present during the hearing. He informed the court that he and his family members were under imminent danger.
Taking notice of life threats to Tania’s family, the court directed DIG Hyderabad and SP Jamshoro to ensure that no harm is caused either to the complainant or his family. “In case any harm or injury is caused to Tania’s family, the DIG and SP shall be held personally responsible,” the CJ maintained in his order. The SHC also directed the IG to withdraw investigation from present IO and assign the same to a senior, honest and reputable officer.
